Pinot Noir & Cheese Matching

Pinot Noir & Cheese Matching Afternoon at Milk the Cow

Today we had our Pinot Noir & Cheese matching at Milk the Cow Carlton upstairs in the Grenier Room.
20 people attended and once again they were all a very friendly group and a pleasure to be around.
Working once again we had myself, my brother Andrew, the wine expert Bela Rice & cheesemonger Laura Lown.
My brother helps me behind the scenes and I couldn’t do it without him.
Because I have had 5 knee operations Andrew helps with the lifting, preparing the booklets and anything else that is required.
Andrew & I arrived at the venue at 11.30AM and straight to work opening the wines and setting up the tables and the room.
We were ready in an hour and now it was time to relax for a few minutes until the guests arrived.

Behind the Scenes Photos

I’m ready and having a break, while Bela is checking if all the wines are good.
Of course it’s always good to have a little laugh before the event to put you in the right spirit.

Moroccan Nights WIne Feast

Moroccan Nights Wine Feast at Imbibe on July 2, 2016

Melissa Birthday Party at Imbibe

This was our second Moroccan Nights Wine Feast Event at Imbibe with the same theme but with different wines.

This would also have to be the easiest event to fill up as it was booked out by David Buchler, owner of Budapest Restaurant & Palinka Bar in Elsternwick.

He happened to book out the entire event as it was his wife, Melissa’s birthday. Happy birthday Melissa! I hope you had a wonderful time with your family and friends.

It looked like everyone was having a great time and enjoyed the Moroccan food & international wine.

The Venue – Imbibe

Imbibe is a small & intimate bar that is a very popular place for locals in The Port Melbourne area and they also hold many different wine tastings & other events there.

2015 Bellvale Pinot Grigio (Gippsland, VIC)

The wine is well balanced with good acidity. There are subtle subdued flavours and good length.

Imbibe Moroccan Nights Wine Feast July 2_078

2014 Font du Vent Côtes du Rhône Rouge (France)

Note: 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 5% Cinsault and 5% Carignan. A great juicy offering from the team at Font de Michelle. Salami, blackberry, cherry, black olive, and pepper on the nose.

The palate has a lot of blackberry, plus some sour cherry, black tea, and spice. The finish packs a big helping of chocolate flavour.

Moroccan Nights Wine Feast

2005 Chateau Musar Gaston Hochar Red (Lebanon)

Very close to wow and greatness! Balanced, fruity, lightly bretty and appealing nose.

On the palate, this wine is superbly well knit to be an everyday drinker extraordinaire.

Fine fruit, racing acids, tannin and a hint of brett to give it gravitas and personality.

Moroccan Nights Wine Feast

2011 Alain Graillot Syrocco Syrah (Morocco)

The new vintage of Alain Graillot’s elegant, juicy Syrocco Syrah from Morocco. Great to find a Moroccan wine.

Moroccan Nights Wine Feast

Campbells NV Topaque (Rutherglen, VIC) 375ml 17.5% ALC/VOL

Deep, brilliant old gold. Lifted toffee, honey and cold tea characters combine to produce the unique character of Rutherglen Topaque.

Toffee and tealeaf characters predominate on the front of the palate with a cleansing hint of spirit and old oak on the finish.
