Rosé & Pinot Noir Yum Cha Lunch at Davids – April 23, 2016

This was our busiest Rosé & Pinot Noir Yum Cha Lunch event at Davids restaurant ever.

We had a total of 80 people and we had to book out the entire venue.

Due to high numbers we had to be super organised to ensure the event ran smoothly and it was one of the best events we have done at Davids.

We now send an email to all attendees 3-4 days before the event to confirm who they are sitting with, their dietary requirements, and everything about the event so we can commence as soon as possible.

It is not easy to organise 80 people so we send an email to everyone explaining when to come, how the event will work, what order the pouring is, where the toilets are and the process to order wines.

The event was a success and the customers were having a great time.

I invited 4 members of Broadsheet Melbourne to attend this event so I wanted this event more than any to run as smoothly as possible.

I have to say that I couldn’t have been any happier.

This event ran like clockwork and flowed smoothly the whole way through.

Nothing went wrong and a lot of wine was sold as well.

We were given a lot of positive feedback regarding this event. It is amazing how popular this event has become and the popularity of rosé wine.

The new 8% strength lychee cider was popular and the two wines that were the most popular were the Werewolf Pinot Noir from Romania & Brown Magpie from the Bellarine Peninsula.

The Brown Magpie wine I am referring to is 2013 Brown Magpie Single Vineyard Pinot Noir – this has been my favourite Pinot Noir for 2015 and 2016.

Here are some photos of the day and we hope you enjoy them.

Cheese Matching & Rosé at Milk the Cow – April 10, 2016

, ,

Rosé & Cheese Matching Event

Our rosé & cheese matching event at Milk the Cow Licensed Fromagerie was on and we had a full house again.

It was sold out within 2 days of announcing this event and this is just from facebook.

This event is our second most popular event.

I have noticed that our guests who attend our rosé events are so excited to try new things and I love to see such enthusiasm.

Please note that all our wine comes from Top Australian Wines Pty Ltd and any wine from our events can be purchased online here.

I am sure that it will continue to be a popular event for a few years still.

Rosé being showcased at the event

  1. 2014 Bertani Bertarose Chiaretto Veneto Rosé IGT (Veneto, Italy)
  2. 2014 Sirocco Vinde Pays D’Oc Rosé (France)
  3. 2015 Brown Magpie Rosé (Geelong, VIC)
  4. 2015 Soumah Ai Fiori (Yarra Valley, VIC)
  5. 2015 Rogers & Rufus Grenache Rosé (Barossa)
  6. 2015 Hentley Farm Rosé (Barossa)

The French rosé was the most popular wine of the day and great value for money as well.

These six wines were matched with 6 different cheeses selected by cheesemonger Laura Lown.

Laura Lown the cheesemonger amazes people with her selection and quality of cheese and has the most interesting stories about them all.

If you haven’t tried the cheese at Milk the Cow then you are missing out.

We plan many more rosé events and we anticipate rosé will be massive in terms of popularity & demand for 2016 & 2017.

From September 2016, it will be rosé all the way with Wine Tasting Events.

Below are the photos from the event – as you can see lots of smiling faces.

Thank-you to all the Wine Tasting Events staff, Laura Lown, Bela Rice and all the wonderful attendees who made this event a very special and memorable one.

Until the next event at Milk the Cow Carlton which will be a Pinot Noir & Cheese Matching event.

Duck & Pinot Wine Dinner at Davids in Prahran – April 7, 2016

We had a very enjoyable and tasty Pinot & Duck wine dinner event at Davids in Prahran.

The food was delicious as we all enjoyed a three course Duck inspired meal and some lovely Pinot Noir.

The service was great from the staff at Davids and we look forward to holding some more events there soon.

Our attendees were treated to a mouth watering three course meal matched with 7 boutique pinot noir wines
selected by Top Australian Wines.

We have also arranged for a wine expert, Bela Rice, to be there to guide you through the food and wine matching and also to answer any questions you have in wine.

Bela Rice has nearly 30 years Wine Industry Experience, Selling, Consulting, Distributing and Educating.

He has also done Wine Show Judging and competed successfully in Wine Tasting Competitions, winning Victorian, Australian, and Australasian Titles.

The Food Menu for our Pinot & Duck Wine Dinner

Roast Duck Dumplings shredded duck, chicken & veggies in a naturally coloured beetroot wrapper
Duck Spring Rolls w/ Lettuce
Peking Duck Wraps w/ Spring onion, Cucumber and David’s Secret Peking Sauce

Tender Village 5 Spice Duck Leg on a bed of leafy Greens (subject to seasonal variations)
Stir-fried Shredded Duck w/ Chef’s Vegetables
Buddha’s Fried rice w/ Bok Choy & Egg.

Sweet Pumpkin Dumplings w/Ice-cream

The wines selection were:

2013 Underwood Pinot Noir (Oregon, USA)

2013 Domaine Taupenon Merme Bourgogne Pinot Noir (France)

2013 Cannibal Creek Pinot Noir (Gippsland, VIC)

2013 In Dreams Pinot Noir (Yarra Valley, VIC)

2013 Moorooduc Estate ‘Devil Bend Creek’ Pinot Noir (Mornington, VIC)

2012 Ant Moore Pinot Noir (Central Otago, NZ)

Camillo Castilla Rayo de Sol Moscatel (Spain)

The highlight of this event was a little surprise that I had for the attendees.

The surprise of the event:

Before I had a chance to announce something to the guests, a few people were asking me if they could purchase a bottle of the 2013 Underwood Pinot Noir from Oregon, USA after having a taste to drink during the event.

So I stood up and announced the following:

“Ladies & gentlemen one of the wines that you have already tried and are asking to purchase is in my pocket”.

They all looked at my in a puzzled way and then I pulled out a can.

“That’s correct you are drinking wine that comes in a can”.

What did everyone conclude from this to their disbelief?

Wine can taste good from a can!

But don’t get me wrong, this was a good example of an everyday drinking wine and by no means am I comparing this wine with high end ones.

Tasting Wine at Little Oscar Lunch on Lygon – February 27, 2016

On February 27, 2016 we had a wine tasting event at Little Oscar in East Brunswick.

Three courses matched to six wines. It was a fun event with great service and a great vibe.

Wine can be matched to most things even hamburgers!

It is a pretty funky little bar and they make some very nice burgers.

Brunswick’s latest culinary hotspot is redefining your typical burger experience.

A three course culinary experience combined with six carefully selected boutique wines by Wine Tasting Events.

Little Oscar has taken the best of American style burgers and fused them with Korean flavours to create unique dishes with inimitable taste & has already made a name for itself amongst Melbourne’s burger enthusiasts.

The dining experience at Little Oscar is unlike anything else offered in Melbourne. To make it even more special they have joined forces with Wine Tasting Events for a monthly food & wine lunch extravaganza.

Wine Tasting Events has carefully matched six different boutique wines from around the world to a three course delectable meal by Little Oscar.

Our speaker and wine expert Bela Rice was om fine form as usual.
